Calgary's forwards assist Chuckle's 25-save shutout to win 4-0
After returning from a personal fast, Calgary's #1 goalie posted his second shutout of the night. Stopping all 25 shots the Nashville threw towards the net, Chuckles reminded those who had any doubts why he is a very solid an important piece of the Flames team. With Chuckles resuming his primary duties in net for Calgary the two guys who split goaltending duties and helped Calgary stay winning last week, did it again tonight by combining for 6points against Nashville. The first period was a defensive battle as both Calgary and Nashville fought for ice and space throughout the period. Calgary did take a penalty late in the first but the special team stepped up, backstopped by Chuckles and killed off the penalty. Late in the second, the Flames finally broke through on the Predators' goalie Steveo, and Chislett took a pass from Borco to send a shot past the goalie good for a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later Obey would score off a nice pass from Chislett and Borco putting the Flames up by two heading into the third.
The game was chippy all night long but D partners Rain and Moose were really throwing their bodies around giving Nashville no room up close forcing as many outside and point shots as they could. Whenever Nashville did set up a nice passing play to beat the Dmen, the goalie Chuckles came up with the saves. Rain and Moose finished with 8 hits each, rising Calgary's hit number significantly over the last few games.
Chislett would get his second goal of the night from Obey and Borco midway through the third and it was clear the forward line was really clicking. With a little less then a minute to go in regulation BorcoBaby was brought down on a breakaway. It's not too often Calgary has seen itself on the penalty shot and with three assists already under his belt Borco got ready to get himself a goal. I didn't see the goal and all accounts describing the penalty shot have varied, but a 13-year Flames season ticket holder did have this to say about the goal
Needless to say BorcoBaby did indeed "Get Pitted" and finished the scoring, and his four point night capped off the victory for the Flames
