Margefrovechkin plays OT hero in 4-3 win over Montreal
Calgary, Alberta - Coming off a big win against LA, Calgary was hoping to come into Montreal and continue their success. Montreal had other ideas scoring the game's first goal and putting the Flames on their heels early. Right winger Margefrovechkin took a tripping penalty early in the first after Montreal's goal and the Flames were determined to keep the pressure up. Left winger Chislett poked the puck off Montreal's defense and skated up the ice shorthanded and scored to tie the game at 1.
With the score tied Montreal and Calgary kept the game tight and the intensity level rose as both teams were hitting and controlling the play in their own defensive zones. Canadiens right winger ButerNuts was making life difficult for Calagary forwards as he laid out hit after hit in the neutral zone. Calgary's defensive pair of v1Rainv1 and IceMoose were also laying out the hits in return as well.
Both goalies were forced to make big saves to keep the game close. x0b3y not only was making crucial saves in net for the Flames but he was being aggressive with the puck and skated out to play the puck several times to help drive the play up the ice. Late in the third period however x0b3y went to play the puck and chipped the puck out of play over the glass for a delay of game penalty. Looking to bail his goalie out, Chislett picked up a loose puck on the penalty kill and skated up the ice to score another shorthanded goal tying the game at 2-2.
Montreal unfazed by the turn of events scored a goal to take the lead with less then 5minutes to go. Center BorcoBaby tied the game up and would send it to overtime late in the third.
Margefrovechkin had been quiet all night long even though she assisted on BorcoBaby's tying goal. She had struggled all game long to contribute anything for her team. But at the 4:31 mark of OT she became the hero when she took a beautifully placed pass from Chislett in the slot and slipped the puck past the Canadiens goalie.
"i was caca dookie all night long, my passes were horrid, I felt like I was letting my teammates down. The frustration was almost overwhelming," Margefrovechkin said, "Chislett gave me a lay-up and I'm glad to have redeemed myself a little."
The win would allow the Flames to finish the night out with two victories and they couldn't be any happier with how it all went.
x0b3y added, "Chislett eh?, what a guy tonight!"
